RF-EMFs can interfere with active implants.

The International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) acknowledges that RF-EMFs can interfere with active implants. ICNIRP considers such exposures outside the scope of its guidelines. This means that the responsibility falls on pacemaker manufacturers and patients’ medical providers.

Pacemakers

Individuals with active pacemakers should keep their distance from an active microwave. Patients and doctors should take note of this advice.

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) and Electrohypersensitivity (EHS)
Both ME/CFS and EHS are chronic health conditions that profoundly impact individuals’ lives. Yet, despite their debilitating effects, both remain under-researched and misunderstood, leaving many without proper care or recognition.

Shared Challenges
Impaired Functioning: People are not able to function the same way they did before they became ill.
Impact on Daily Life: Employment, social and family life are affected.
Long-Term Chronic Effects: It can last for years and may lead to a serious disability.
Mental Health Misconceptions: Often dismissed as psychological in origin.
Lack of Support: Limited healthcare access and research.

These conditions are challenging to diagnose due to the lack of specific tests. While ME/CFS has received more research attention and has established diagnostic guidelines, EHS lacks similar clarity.

Historical and Ongoing Medical Dismissal
ME/CFS has had a long and complex history in terms of medical recognition, especially regarding its classification as a physical versus a mental condition. The shift from viewing it as primarily psychological to recognizing it as a physical illness occurred gradually and varied by country and medical organizations.

Today, ME/CFS is recognized as a legitimate physical illness by major health organizations, including the CDC, the NIH, and the WHO. However, challenges remain regarding diagnosis, treatment, and public perception. Healthcare access is still limited, and many in the medical community rely on outdated information. In some cases cognitive behavioural therapy and graded exercise continue to be prescribed for ME/CFS even though these treatments have been shown to worsen the condition.

Similarly, the WHO continues to recommend that treatment for EHS should exclude addressing the person’s “perceived” need to reduce or eliminate EMF exposure at home or in the workplace. This recommendation may be putting people at risk. **Please see the disclaimer at the bottom of the post.

The Struggle for EHS Recognition
Similar to ME/CFS, efforts to gain recognition for Electrohypersensitivity (EHS) as a legitimate physical illness is ongoing. Dismissive attitudes, such as those expressed by the 2020 Chair of ICNIRP, negatively impact how the medical community, research funders, and regulatory bodies perceive the condition. Dismissing or ridiculing individuals with EHS is not only cruel and disrespectful but also poses a real threat to public health by undermining the seriousness of the condition and stalling research efforts.

Call for Multidisciplinary Research
In our experience, it is common for individuals to exhibit symptoms of both EHS and ME/CFS, often due to heightened sensitivity to environmental factors. This overlap underscores the urgent need for global, multidisciplinary research efforts. Well coordinated studies and the development of effective solutions should be prioritized as part of public health initiatives to improve the quality of life for those affected by these conditions.

This is not the case. Some very basic additional factors (there is much more to this topic) that need to be taken into account: 

•Low frequency electric and magnetic fields: house wiring, appliances, lights, power lines, substations, etc.

•High frequency voltage transients generated by some electric / electronic devices.

•Lack of exposure to sunrise and natural outside light (where the shielding itself has turned the homes into Faraday Cages). These individuals will not recover.

•Exposure to indoors artificial light of erroneous wavelengths during daytime and after sunset.

•Lack of making contact with the earth, not through artificial earthing methods but through being outside and physically making contact with the earth (bare feet on wet sand or grass).

•Misguided use of supplements and treatments, as well as polypharma.

A growing number of countries are beginning to acknowledge that electrohypersensitivity (EHS) exists and a few countries have classified it as a disability or a functional impairment attributable to the environment. Epidemiological studies and in vivo experiments show that exposure to non-ionizing radiation (NIR) from extremely low to microwave frequency electromagnetic fields (EMF) at exposure intensities far below the maximum limits in international guidelines increases anxiety, depression, and physiological stress and impairs cognitive functions that include concentration, memory and learning. Furthermore, exposure to NIR contributes to neurodegenerative diseases including dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and autism spectrum disorder. Exposure of the fetus to NIR (mobile phone) affects the neonatal heart and can lead to emotional and behavioral problems in human offspring. Similar exposures in laboratory studies report impaired cognitive performance, neuronal losses and pathological changes in the brain of rat offspring. The scientific and medical communities have repeatedly sent out urgent warnings, in the form of appeals, declarations and testimonies, that exposure to NIR needs to be reduced from a public health perspective. These warnings have been largely ignored. With continued development of wireless technology and the imminent roll out of new and densified technologies (e.g., 5G technology, satellite constellations, repeaters, wearables, Internet of Things), society will pay an enormous price for disregarding these warnings. It is long overdue for those responsible for public health, the health of children and health policy to take these warnings seriously and to provide a refuge for those afflicted by EHS. EHS is real, it is exacerbated by exposure to NIR, it is increasing among the population and when severe it becomes a disability. Action is long overdue to minimize exposure to
NIR and to provide a safe environment that all can enjoy .

Via Dr Magda Havas – the ICD (International Classification of Diseases) now has codes for health effects caused by non-ionizing radiation. This was a request from the 2015 EHS Resolution adopted in Belgium. A major victory for the scientists and activists who attended this conference and for the doctors, lawyers, and EHS/Cancer survivors.

ICD-10 stands for the International Classification of Diseases and health-related problems (10th revision). It is produced by the World Health Organisation (WHO), and since January 1, 2005, all healthcare practitioners in South Africa are required, by law, to use this system. The coding is applicable to both the private and public sector.
